The boys turn ONE year old!

We are just settling down after an amazing weekend. Both Mindy and I took the day off work Friday for the boys first birthday. After spending the day at home with them, we all went into town in the evening and had a small birthday dinner, then headed over to the NICU with some special LifeSavers candy rolls. We had them wrapped with a thank you message from the boys and handed them out to the nurses and doctors that helped make their first year possible.

Today, we had the boy’s first birthday party. It was great fun. They boys loved all the attention, and it was really good to see everyone again. Each of the boys got a large cup-cake birthday cake to share with everyone, and we got to sing happy birthday three times. Spencer especially had a good time being a party animal as you can see from the photos.

This has been a very exciting and emotional year for us. Mindy and I can’t say enough how much it means to us to have such a great support system in our family, friends, and even now with some of the NICU nurses whom still keep in touch with the boys. We want to especially say thank you to my mom (and dad), who took a part time schedule at work to come cover a couple of days a week watching the boys for us, and to Jenny from the NICU who has also been helping us on a weekly bases.

Spencer is going to see the pulmonologist this week, and we fear he will not be happy as Spencer became ill twice in the past six weeks with cold/flu type infection. He and Kian also had ear infections, and got put on antibiotics for a week and a half. As we work with the Dr and get through Christmas I will let you know how they are doing.

In the meantime the website has been updated, and we have plenty of photos to share with you, so check it out!
